How do I keep my shih-tzu puppy's white hair on his feet and mouth area clean and white between

I'm new at this. His hair is long (not shaved) and always appears dingy on the more active areas. Any other suggestions? I could sure use them! Thx

They sale a product for that and also shampoo for white haired dogs. Go to www.jefferspet.com and check out their line of dogs grooming products.

high maintenance dogs.. daily cleaning of the areas in question... you may opt for a haircut...

I have a black and white shih-tzu and in order to keep her paws white, we keep her cut short. Not shaved short but much shorter than the long hair you typically see on shih-tzu show dogs. Her hair stayed mostly white until A.) she went outside right after the grass was cut (then she had green paws) or B) once she started aging (she's 8 now) the color of her mother (tan) started coming out in her paws.

As the person above said, you may want to simply wipe off the paws each day with something as general as a damp paper towel. Also, you may want to look out for tear stains, as shih-tzu's are known for having runny eyes which can cause stains. For that problem, there are several eye stain treatments which can be found at your local Wal-Mart or Petsmart or any other store that sells pet supplies.

Again, we have found it beneficial to take a paper towel, wet it, and put it in the microwave for 3 seconds (don't want it too hot but just warm) and then wipe off our dog's face (in your case face and paws) every night before she goes to bed.

Good luck!

People who show wrap the longer furnishings to prevent them from getting dirty. For some tips, join a yahoo group about shih-tzus. I am sure there is good, breed-specific advice there, and it will be fun talking to other shih-tzu owners.
